Best Practices for Thriving at Networking

Networking events can be tough (especially if you're introverted) but here's what I've found works for making meaningful connections and getting the most out of them:
Know why you're there: Are you looking for new customers? Are you looking to engage with existing customers? Is it relative to your goals/objectives? Good ol' fashion purpose alignment makes a huge difference in charting success.
Build a pre-game ritual: I have a playlist to help get me in the right headspace. It may sound silly, but it allows me fully present to give/get something at the event rather than just saying I was there.
Energy management > Meeting everyone: Know yourself. Take a break or step outside if needed. I've had just as many meaningful quiet conversations in hallway refuges as in crowded rooms.
Skip the elevator pitches and lead with genuine curiosity: "Excuse me, may I join you?" followed by "what's the most interesting thing you're working on?" have served me well.
LinkedIn reality check: People who give business cards or text me their number are often more serious than those scanning QR codes. Old school still means something.
Authenticity matters: Being genuinely interested in others is a superpower. There's enough corporate speak already - be the human in the room.
More exist, let me know what's missing in your opinion!?!
